Life Simplified — Reducing Overwhelm and Taking Back Control
This is the last in my series of how to simplify your health, stress, exercise, nutrition and life.
If you've missed them, check them all out here Blog
Midlife often brings a perfect storm: ageing parents, teens, work, fluctuating hormones, responsibilities overload
It’s not that you’re not coping — it’s that you’re carrying too much.
And remember what we talked about earlier in the week.
Your midlife body really can't cope with stress like it used to. It needs help. So get help. Ask for it and cut yourself some slack. You can't do it all. I know you want to because you're a perfectionist. Only you can do it right!
But trust me, it's not worth it. Your health is more important
Simplifying isn’t about doing less for others; it’s about doing more of what matters.
And not forgetting about YOU in the chaos

Here are my five Top Tips to simplify your days and reduce overwhelm:
- Three Priorities Per Day — Not a list of 10. Just three. Yes, make your list of 10 or 20, but then simply take the top three and get those done. The rest can wait. You are not superwoman! It's ok
- Delegate - If there are other adults (12 years plus) in the house, give them jobs. Yes they can do it. It may take longer, you may hear all the whingeing, but it's important that they learn that you are to be respected.
You can't do it all and they shouldn't expect you to. Well you can (and you probably do), but really, should you be doing it all?! Have a think about this. Stop being a perfectionist and allow others to help you - whether they want to or not!
- Time For YOU — Every day take some time for you, even if it's my class or a 10 minute walk alone
- Reduce Decision Fatigue — Be more organised, plan meals, plan your exercise, prep meals, freeze food. And if its beans on toast one night, so what!? It's ok, no one will die!
- Keep One Promise to Yourself — This is how you rebuild trust and consistency. A new top, a coffee with a friend... you're worth it
You don’t need to overhaul your whole life.
You need a simpler one — one that supports you, not drains you. Ask for help!
